Data deletion

This page explains how to delete your Conoted account and what happens to your data when you do.

Delete your account from the app

Open Conoted and go to Settings.
Tap Remove account.
Confirm.

The account is removed immediately and you are signed out. There is no waiting period and no separate confirmation email.

Delete your account by email

If you cannot open the app — for example you lost access to the device or to the sign-in method — write to support@conoted.com from the email address your account uses, with the subject Delete my account.

We reply within 3 business days and delete the account within 30 days of the request. If we cannot confirm that the request comes from the account owner, we will ask you one clarifying question rather than delete an account on a stranger's word.

What is deleted

Your user record: name, email, avatar, settings, timezone, language.
Your notes and their contents.
Your invitations to notes, and other people's invitations to your notes.
Your reactions.
The link between your account and your Telegram profile, if you connected one.

Deletion is permanent. We do not keep a hidden copy of a deleted account, and we cannot restore it afterwards.

What is not deleted, and why

Messages from public Telegram chats. Conoted reads public Telegram channels and group chats that users connect as sources. Those messages are not your personal data — they were written by other people, in public, and they belong to the chats they were posted in. Deleting your account does not delete them.

Groups with other members. If you created a shared folder and other people are using it, the folder and its sources remain for them. Your membership and your own notes in it are removed.

Encrypted backups, for up to 30 days. We keep daily encrypted database backups for 30 days. A deleted account may still exist inside a backup made before the deletion until that backup rotates out. Backups are used only to restore the service after a failure; they are never read to look up a person.

Records we are required to keep. Payment and subscription records, where they exist, are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Threads search queue. If you connect a Threads account and use keyword search, we keep a short working queue of the posts it found — post id, author username, a 200-character excerpt, date and status (shown / replied / skipped). It exists so the posts can be shown to you and so you do not reply to the same person twice. Records are deleted automatically after 30 days. The queue belongs to your account only; queues of different users are never merged or shared, and we build no profiles of the authors. Disconnecting the Threads account or deleting your Conoted account deletes the queue immediately.

Telegram and Threads connections

If you connected a Telegram account or a Threads account, deleting your Conoted account removes our access token and the link between the two. It does not delete anything inside Telegram or Threads — your posts, messages and profile there are yours and stay untouched. You can also revoke our access from those services directly at any time.
